I guess Jason agrees with what I said here a while back. However in the 18 bullet points - some very good arguments - none focus on a key issue for me.
Apple has made the iCar, an integration/partnership with multiple car manufactures to give an Apple Dashboard to cars . Haven't you heared about it? Maybe because it wasn't good enough. One thing that Apple knows well, is in their genes, they want to make the hardware and The software in order to make it work. iCar was the most recent sign that Apple wants to enter that market.
Steve Jobs wanted to design a car - Eddie Cue, Apple Vice-President, is in the board of Ferrari - the signs were always there, but now they have the opportunity and the funds to make it happen. To make it happen means to buy Tesla and to make it even better. They will even get Elon Musk "for free"!
Maybe this is why Apple has been saving $180B.
